To Improve English Communication Skills

Hi...

Nowadays English becomes a predominent language. Yes it does. Wherever we go English lives there. It starts from School itself. In India a young man wanna catch a job in an MNC or any IT company English is mandatory. Without having good communication skills the guy can't even step into the campus. We Indians still have difficulties to communicate in English. Did you ever think Why?

We'll get plenty of reasons, If we contemplate. Reasons follow.. We are not Native English Speakers. Many of them finish schooling in their Regional Languages. This is where people get stuck. We don't talk in English too much as we do in our Vernacular.

How we talk in our Mother Toungue fluently? Coz Everyone talks in this lang in where you live. You get practised by speaking a lot of that and commiting hell a lot of mistakes. Did you feel bad when you make mistake or hesitate to communicate in your mother toungue? No... Not at all... Because You might have made many mistakes as much as you could in your childhood itself. Right???

So You have to consider yourself as a child When you step nearer to English, If you don't have good communication skills. Tricky or Meaningless??? What I'm saying is commit mistakes when you converse in English. Only then you can learn from it. Don't ever hesitate to this as we are not Native English Speakers.

Ways and Tips to Improve Communication Skills: (This is what I did, do and will do)

1. Very first tip is to get rid of your shyness and stage fear or whatever fear you call.

2.Inorder to send off your fearness what can you do? Mirror is a good tool, I would say. Yep.. It is.. You just start talking infront of the mirror in English. You'll slowly figure out how you act infront of others. At the same time you'll get the feeling as someone watches you while talking. Because People say conscience is good watcher and will definitely point out the mistakes than anyone.

3. You might post me a question at this point of time as without knowing English perfectly How can you talk? Right?? Then You do this. It'll definitely bring you a good result. Watch Regional language movies. Don't think I'm kidding.
Do watch those movies with the subtitles in English. While watching movies in your regional lang you no need to concentrate on the lang. You can simply concentrate on the subtitles without any difficulties. But If you watch the movies in English 1st you've to understand their slang and also you don't know the meaning of the sentences.
If you watch your regional lang movies with subtitles that will definitely help in constructing and framing the sentences without any mistakes.

4. Have a habit of reading English Newspapers with the help of Dictionaries.

5. Refer Dictionaries a lot. Try to learn atleast 3 words a day with the proper sentences. Here are the links of websites for online dictionaries which will give meaning and appropriate sentences.

http://dictionary.cambridge.org

http://www.merriam-webster.com

http://www.lanka.info/dictionary/EnglishToSinhala.jsp

You can surf yourself to explore more online dictionaries than the above ones.

6. Start communicating in English with your friends. They might laugh at you. That's for sure. It'll happen, I agree. But when you sit in an interview panel for an MNC job They won't come and help you a bit. Keep this in your mind and Work according to that.

7. Whatever English word you know try to get the meaning of that word in your Mother Toungue. This will help you more to use those words effectively at an appropriate places and situations.

8. This is an Excellent Tip that I ever inform everyone. i.e.

Start Thinking in English. Once you've started thinking in English Words will pop out from your mouth as your Vernacular. But Inorder to achieve this you've to follow the above steps. If you start doing this, That's it... The cup of tea is yours. You're on your right track..

Best Wishes...
